This paper investigates the characterization of an electric double-layer capacitor (EDLC). In this study, 300 F and 400 EDLC supercapacitors are connected in a circuit laboratory experiment to produce their charge/discharge profiles at constant current. The acquired were used determine mathematical parameters EDLCs using “Faranda model”, or “two-branch EDLC. extracted from equivalent model then as inputs designed Python/MATLAB/Simulink (PMS)-hybrid was simulated obtain profiles. resulting experimental- simulated-charge/discharge compared with each other, by superimposing accuracy PMS model. found be very accurate. innovation work lies modeling supercapacitor, mostly Python programming language combination MATLAB/Simulink experimental-charge/discharge obtained calculate resistance (ESR) capacitance EDLCs, which existing datasheet values EDLCs. supercapacitor done derive flexible EDLC, can microgrid hybrid energy-storage system (HESS) show potential improving battery lifespan.
